Can you believe there are only 58 days left in 2021? I don’t know about you, but this year feels like it’s flown by!
Despite the fact that the bulk of the year is behind us, there are almost two months (a little more than eight weeks) left before we ring in the new year. And two months is plenty of time to make significant changes.
So in the name of finishing strong, let’s take a moment to consider the following question:
What ONE habit (if you either added OR eliminated it) would make the biggest difference in your life in the coming months?
Habits you might want to add could include drinking more water, daily exercise, or a better bedtime routine.
Habits you might want to eliminate could be checking your phone first thing before you get out of bed (and getting sidetracked for 20 minutes), mindlessly scrolling social media throughout the day, or forgetting to plan your meals and grabbing fast food when you’d told yourself you were going to ‘eat healthy.’
And in case you think you need huge blocks of time to really make progress, think again.
I first saw this type of chart ?in Marie Forleo’s book, Everything is Figureoutable.
Skeptical about what you could do in these next 8+ weeks? Check out these numbers:
-
- 10 min/day for the next 58 days = 580min (9.67 hours)
- 20 min/day for the next 58 days = 1160min (19.33 hours)
- 30 min/day for the next 58 days = 1740min (29 hours)
Think about it.
You’re wanting to build a healthier lifestyle? A daily free 10-min HIIT workout on YouTube will not only get you sweating, you can do it in the comfort of your own home. No gym required.
You’ve always wanted to learn how to paint (or decorate cakes, or train hamsters, or learn Swahili)? How about, rather than scrolling through Instagram for 20 minutes, you signed up for the online class/read the book/downloaded the app? By the end of the year, you’d have clocked up almost 20 hours towards that new skill!
That book you’ve been talking about writing for years? What if you set your alarm clock 30-minutes earlier, refused to get sidetracked on your phone, and devoted that time instead to getting those precious words of yours down on paper (or laptop)?
The moral of this story?
We don’t need large chunks of time to make significant strides towards our dreams. And while you might be tempted to think you can’t make real progress unless you have consecutive hours of uninterrupted time, as I just showed you, small steps taken consistently add up!
How about it? Why wait until January or for a break in your busy schedule to make those changes? You can be well on your way to reaching your dreams with the time you have right now. ?
Here’s my goal (so you know I’m practicing what I preach! ?) I’ve been wanting to declutter my house for months so every weekday before I pick up my kids from school, I’m taking 10 minutes to go through cupboards and clothes and get rid of anything we don’t need or want anymore.
Now, tell me. What are you planning to do with your last 58 days of 2021? Drop me a line. I’d love to hear from you. We can be accountability buddies!
Here’s to finishing the year strong, ???
