You know that feeling when something lights you up and you can’t stop thinking about it? (Think of a moment when an idea, dream, or insight has hit you with that jolt of yes! and suddenly, you’re buzzing with inspiration.)
My husband, Nathan, refers to these moments as “playing the game of possibilities.“
I call the feeling enthusiasm.
Author and entrepreneur Danielle LaPorte says, “Enthusiasm is a heightened state of consciousness.”
I remember the first time I read the above quote—and had a major ‘ah ha!’ moment.
Read it again: Enthusiasm is a heightened state of consciousness.
Eckhart Tolle describes it as this, “Whenever there is enthusiasm, there is a creative empowerment that goes far beyond what a mere person is capable of.”
In short, enthusiasm is not silly or surface-level—it’s sacred. It’s your inner compass pointing you toward your own aliveness, and, dare I say, your gifts, talents, even purpose.
The root of the word “enthusiasm” comes from the Greek entheos, meaning “the God within.” Sit with that thought for a moment.
That spark? It’s Divine guidance.
Enthusiasm is a clue—a breadcrumb, if you will. A whisper from your soul that says,
“This. This matters. Pay attention.”
Some of you reading this have been waiting for outside approval, validation, or permission, and this is your sign that the answer is actually inside of you already.
These days, I use this simple mantra when assessing new opportunities in my life and business:
“If it’s not a hell yeah!, it’s a no.”
Feel free to adopt it—or some variation—for yourself.
For many years, I lived the life of unconscious “yeses.” Of over-obligation. Of smiling and nodding and agreeing to things that weren’t aligned with my heart.
It’s exhausting.
And honestly, It pulled me out of integrity with myself.
So now?
I listen.
If something lights me up—even for a second—I lean in.
And if it doesn’t? I pause; I get curious. I wait for a more honest yes.
My encouragement to you is this:
- Start noticing your sparks.
- Tune into your enthusiasm.
- Let your inner “yes” guide your outer choices.
Because when your inner world aligns with your outer world?
Bingo! That’s where peace lives. That’s where power lives.
As for me, I’m simply here to remind you that…
You were made to live from alignment, not obligation.
And noticing those inspired moments of enthusiasm is a key to help you do just that.
