Your Self Care 5-minute Reset

Serene outdoor self care space with greenery and rocks.

Hey Friend, how are you?

If your life is anything like mine right now, you’re busy. (Maybe too busy.)

If that’s the case, this post is for both of us.

Let’s pause, show ourselves some love, do a quick self care reset, and check-in with our body, emotions, and heart.

This is a moment to ask yourself: What do I need?
Answer one or more of the following questions in each category. Or simply scan the list and see what jumps out. This isn’t meant to be stressful.

Reset your body:

  • Have I had enough water to drink?
  • Am I getting enough sleep? (If not, could I bump my bedtime up by an hour or two this evening? Should I grab a quick power nap?)
  • Am I eating well?
  • Am I eating enough?
  • When was the last time I moved my body? (This could be exercise, a walk, yoga, dancing—whatever feels good.)
  • Am I in physical pain? If yes, do I know why? What can I do about it?
  • Where am I holding tension in my body? (Starting with your head, do a quick body scan and check or any clenched or tight muscles. I often clench my jaw when I’m stressed but don’t always notice I’m doing it.)
  • Take 3-5 deep breaths. Visualize love and peace coming in on the inhale, and stress/anxiety being released on your exhale.

Reset your emotions:

  • What emotions am I feeling right now?
  • If I’m angry or worrying about something, is there a deeper emotion underneath this? (For example, anger is often a surface emotion that might be covering up something more tender, like grief or disappointment.)
  • What am I grateful for today?
  • What am I happy about? Upset about (if anything)?

Reset your heart:

  • Heart, what do you need right now?
  • What do you want right now?

What can you do to show yourself some love and kindness today?

Where can you incorporate what you discovered from the above self care questions into real life?

After all, running on empty doesn’t do any of us any good. I know we know this, but sometimes a little reminder doesn’t hurt.

Your guide to gentle pauses and intentional resets,
